Trapper Trails Recognition Night

We volunteered to perform the flag ceremony for the Trapper Trails Recognition night and the Scouts dressed in great looking uniforms from the early days of Scouting.  We had 6 of 8 Scouts there and they did a great job.  Jacob Haacke called the flag ceremony and did a great job in front of hundreds of people.  He was so 'Brave' and we are proud of each Scout as the all did a great job.

We added vintage square merit badge sashes to the uniforms this time.

The Chief Patrol volunteered some service to the Pack at their Pinewood Derby to do a flag ceremony.  Another requirement down on the trail to Eagle.

Scout Camp - The movie

One of the requirements for Citizenship in the Community is to watch a movie about someone in the community who does service.  The Scout leaders in this movie were doing service.

We had 2 family size pizzas - one pepperoni and one Hawaiian, along with 6 bags of popcorn.

After the movie I let them play some music on the piano.

I love Scouts.  One of the boys had 6 pieces of pizza.  He took the toppings off and piled them on his plate and ate the bread!.  No more pizza for that Scout!

Fall 2015 Camp Out #3 sort of

Well, we went camping for our 3rd camp out of the year to Hooper Utah.  We had boys who had to be to soccer and other family activities so we went closer rather to North Fork Park where the fall colors would have been beautiful.  It was really nice at the Parker Park, that's the name of it.  We had almost all the boys there by bed time and then 3 got up to leave early for soccer and such.

First, each Scout tried to start his own fire.  Here's a skill the boys will be learning this year.  Some of the boys started to build their fire with large sticks, rather than really thin ones.  They lost the race.

We asked the boys to  prepare a tinfoil dinner.  Mine was delicious, potatoes, carrots, onions, green peppers, spices and mushroom soup.

The boys also cooked rolls on a stick.  No modern utensils.

Spring Camp Out 2015

Well, we wanted to get in our first camp out before Joey turned 12 on May 31 and Aaron on June 19.  It was rainy all week and predicted were dire.  We canceled, then uncanceled, then just went and tried to be 'Brave' Scouts.  We had the Anderson Cove tent side almost to ourselves.  The weather Friday night was balmy and clear at night.  I told Sam McGee around the fire before the crew crashed at 10:10.  Everyone brought their own tinfoil dinners and the Troop provided breakfast - eggs, bacon, pancakes and cocoa.  Nature threw in the rain showers Saturday morning.  Oh, at 5:00 the buses and cars started rambling by for the Ogden Marathon.  Probably should have headed to South Fork or the lot.

Fall Camp Out

Well, we decided to stay away from the high mountain valley's like North Fork, because temperatures were getting down into the 30's.  So we went west to Hooper where temperatures with in the upper 40's in the morning.  The boys brought tinfoil dinners, a take off on an old rank requirement to prepare a meal without utensils of 1/4 pound meat and 2 potatoes.

For our monthly activity, we went for a bike ride along the Riverdale trail.  The boys had a great time and would like to go again.  Here's Harrion on his BMX-type bike!
