Centennial Jamborall - Trappers Trails Council

Well, the entire troop participated in the council Jamborall on May 14-15. We had 8 scouts and 7 leaders/dads. We met at the church at 3:30 and arrived at the jamborall around 4:15 where we set up camp on the nice lawn at the north end of the race track. Scouts prepared their own light meals. That evening we attended a magic show, while a few leaders stayed for a music group, which was made up of 5/6 Eagle Scouts. It was actually a real good show but the boys left because they were bored waiting for the setup. After that, they had fireworks. After a good night sleep, in spite of the trains, we awoke for another light meal of muffins and chocolate milk. Then off to the opening ceremony which had sky-divers who brought in the American Flag, followed by a couple hours at the events. Unfortunately, most of the boys and leaders were back in camp by 11:30, ready to go. As far as the scoutmaster, I had a great time in the two buildings looking at different scout booths and collections. Most of the scouts spent their time waiting in lines for climbing walls, etc., so they didn't take the time to see the things in the booths in the buildings. I was told there were 15,000 there and I was separated from everyone and didn't really have a clue that they didn't get to see all the things I did because of the long lines. We were on the road by 1 pm, while the event closed at 3 pm. We'll try it again next time, having the leaders in touch with phones and getting the scouts to enjoy everything rather than stand in line for a few things.
