Isaac and Jacob Haacke Eagle Court of Honor

I was invited to say a few words at the Eagle Court Of Honor for Isaac and Jacob.  What a wonderful event to see Scouts who I had the opportunity to tutor earn their Eagle Rank.

EYO Scouts - The End is Near!

Last night was my last Scout meeting of the year as the Church has decided that 11-year-old Scouts will move to 12/13 year old Scouts January 1, 2019.  I was hoping to work with Korbin Wood and Korbin Christy for the next few months and any other 11-year-old's that came in in 2019.  We'll see if I'll actually have any Scouting activities in 2019 at this point.

Stake 11-year-old Camp

We had a great camp at Smith's Pond in South Weber.  We had great support and we even had visitors join us along with 4 dad's!  Our troop performed the flag ceremony and our leaders conducted the orienteering training.  We had submarine sandwiches, chips and soda for supper, followed by a camp fire and skits.  The troop retired the colors and we had donuts and hot chocolate for our cracker barrel.  After a good night sleep we had breakfast burritos served by the Stake Primary Presidency, then breaking camp and home by 8:00 a.m.

Spring Camp-out to CauseyBe

Well, we planned our Spring camp-out for the end of May.  We watched the weather come in this week with snowstorms and rain and wasn't sure we were going.  The storm passed just in time but left a pretty chilly morning with temperatures in the high 20's but we are Scouts and we survived.  We weren't all prepared but our Scoutmaster brought extra sleeping bags that came in handy.  We had spaghetti for supper, French toast for breakfast and sub-sandwiches for lunch.  No one went home hungry for sure.

Scouts setting up their own tents.  Yes they are Scouts but it's hard to tell without a uniform on...

Oh, here's a Scout doing his own tent.

How do you work this thing???

I can chop this beef up for the spaghetti sauce...

Here's one hungry Scout!

Just having fun hanging out with our comfort blankies...

Now, David showing the Scouts how to start a fire.

Hanging out around the fire.

and having fun.

And drying socks after running around in the night without shoes.

I can crack this egg I think?

Hiking and playing tag on the top of the mountain.

See this fort we built.  We should have earned the Pioneering merit badge.

We had a fun time and our leaders made us go home.  Another camp-out and we'll be back together having fun.
